Mut‘a as Practised by Danish Shi‘i Women

Abstract The article is a study based on ten semi-structured interviews to show how mut‘a , known as temporary, pleasure marriage, practised in seven different ways present-day Denmark. Continuous conversations with Danish Shi‘i women provide rare insight into the discourses and emotions behind making sense of world love, relationships social norms formulated divine intentions. practices vary from relationships, dating online relations, tools therapeutic settings. Mut‘a articulated formalised tool navigate highly gender segregated only by individuals who hold rigid views regarding regulations. demonstrates noticeable differences between cultural interpretations related concepts such mahr ‘idda thus leading conversation about what constitutes Muslim law practices. findings contribute wider contextual settings, individual experience, world-making cognitions, aid inductive productions within law.
